I Must Be Crazy . . . Surely It's Not Sin!

I am sad to say that I wasted two years of my life pursing a degree in secular psychology. STUPID...There is no other word to describe the waste of time and money that pursuit was. I have decided to share some of my "knowledge" with you all and then you can decide what the real truth is. Here goes::

One of the most depressing facts I discovered in my psychology study was that there is literally a diagnosis for everything on the face of the planet that has to do with one's personality. There is an explanation for every single wrong thing that any person has ever done or ever will do. This is encouraging if you are one who does not want to be responsible for your wrongdoing...it is hopeless if you are hoping for change....the psychology world offers very little hope of permanent change, if any. Here is a breakdown of just a few of the wacky ways we excuse sin today and then a real look at what the Bible says about it. I find it so ironic that the Bible addresses every mental disease known to mankind today with the gospel...why oh why did we try to improve on perfect.
Anyway,,, number one..

Histronic Disorder: This order is characterized by a need for attention. People with this disorder yearn to be the center of attention. They are constantly practicing drama...their lives are always the worst..their circumstances are always the hardest...their families are always the worst...Ev ery conversation this person has leads back to them. (oh my word, are you kidding me..this pretty much covers about 85 percent of the world)

The Bible on Histronic Disorder...

James 4:6...But he gives more grace. Therefore it says that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Romans 2:8...But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
Ephesians 4:22  You were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its evil desires, 23..to be made new in the attitude of your minds..24..and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Number 2 Disorder

Narcissistic Disorder:   A person diagnosed with the disorder has a sense of great self importance. They believe that they are far above the common man. They have a sense of entitlement...the world should recognize their greatness and do for them. They will only associate with people who are worthy like them. They lack empathy...exploit others for their own gain...and are often envious of those around them (oh my word....really really really....)

The Bible on Narcissism:
Ps 119:36  Turn my heart towards your statutes and not toward selfish gain.
1 Cor. 13_4-6 Love is patient..love is kind..love does not envy or boast. It does not insist on its own way, it is not irritable or rude...it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices in the truth.2 Tim. 3:2-4  For people will be lovers of self..lovers of money...proud...arrogant..abusive..disobedient to their parents...ungrateful...unholy..heartless,..unappeasable..slanderous, without self-control..not loving good...treacherous..reckless..swollen with conceit...lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

Anti-Social disorder:
Symptoms:

  • Failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest
  • Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure
  • Impulsivity or failure to plan ahead
  • Irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults
  • Reckless disregard for safety of self or others
  • Consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations
  • Lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another
  • (Every single person I know saved and unsaved has parts of this disorder....we should all be on a  be nice get along drug. )
The bible on Anti Social disorder:

1 John 4:19-21 ESV

We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Romans 12:18 ESV

If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

John 13:34 ESV

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.

for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.         .

Proverbs 19:11

Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.

1 Peter 5:3-5

Not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Proverbs 17:14

The beginning of strife is like letting out water, so quit before the quarrel breaks out.

Psalm 133:1-3 ESV

A Song of Ascents. Of David. Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes! It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.

There are so many more but, well hopefully, you are starting to get the picture. Try this little exercise.. go .to a site that lists mental diseases and ask God to give you insight to see yourself as you are...You will diagnose yourself with parts of several if not all listed...are you controlling..it is there. Are you paranoid...it is there. Do you hate germs...it is there..do you overeat..hey guess what you are not a glutton. you have an eating disorder.. Folks, we have bought into a belief that we are not responsible for any of our own ugliness..we cannot help ourselves..therefore we cannot change..STUPID...and thank God not what the Bible says...and not a new belief (check out Gen. 3) If you are sick of being who you are and having no hope for change...turn to the gospel...it says we can change through Christ by the working of the Holy Spirit, we do not have to be who we are but can be who he created us to be. Thank God our truth is in the Word and not in the world. Loving  all you crazy people...Crazy Miss Lori
